RDN 2014 Elections to Include Mail Ballot Voting
The Regional District of Nanaimo will include Mail Ballot Voting as part of the 2014 General Local Elections. Qualified electors in RDN Electoral Areas A, B, C, E, F, G, and H can register to vote and cast a ballot by mail.Who Can Vote By Mail?
Qualified electors can vote by mail if they:- have a physical disability, illness or injury that affects their ability to vote at another voting opportunity; and/or
- expect to be away from the Regional District of Nanaimo on general voting day (November 15, 2014) and at the times of all advance voting opportunities (November 5, 2014 and November 12, 2014); and/or
- are a resident of DeCourcy Island or Mudge Island, which have been designated as remote from voting places.
Application Procedure
To participate in Mail Ballot Voting, eligible electors who meet the above criteria must submit a completed application form in advance of general voting day, November 15, 2014. The form is available on the RDN website, www.rdn.bc.ca by clicking here, or through the contacts listed below. Completed application forms may be submitted via email, regular mail, in person, or via fax (if faxing please call or email to confirm).Regional District of NanaimoQualified electors who have submitted an application will be sent a mail ballot package as soon as they are available (tentatively October 27, 2014). To be counted, mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer before the close of voting on general voting day, 8 pm, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Regional District of Nanaimo, 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, BC, V9T 6N2. It is the obligation of the person applying to vote by mail ballot to ensure that the mail ballot is received by the Chief Election Officer within this time limit.
